Why do ignition coils often break? Many people suspect that the quality of the newly replaced ignition coil is not good, and it will break after a long time, and some people think that the auto repair shop did not check the real cause of the failure, but simply changed the ignition coil hastily, and the result was useless, and the new ignition coil was wasted. What everyone said actually has some truth, but the specific problem still needs to be analyzed specifically, let's first understand the working principle of the ignition coil.
The ignition coil is the core component of the automobile ignition system, which has an important impact on the start and normal operation of the car. In general, the ignition coil is composed of the main coil, secondary coil, magnetic core, switch transistor and other auxiliary components, the battery charges the main coil, the secondary coil discharge spark plug ignites, the triode is responsible for switching, and the charging time of the main coil is controlled by the battery voltage and engine speed. When the primary coil is turned on, a strong magnetic field is generated around it as the current increases, and the core stores magnetic field energy; When the switching device disconnects the primary coil circuit, the magnetic field of the primary coil decays rapidly, and the secondary coil induces a very high voltage.
To put it simply, the ignition coil is a transformer that can raise tens of volts to tens of thousands of volts, but the voltage input to the primary coil is provided by an electronic igniter. However, it is precisely in such a high-pressure environment that the probability of ignition coil loss is several times that of other auto parts, and ablation usually occurs.
The main reasons for the ablation phenomenon of general automobile ignition coils are as follows:
1. The generator power is too high, and the load of the ignition coil is too heavy, which will also cause the ignition coil to be ablated. This situation is often not only the ignition coil burned out, but also other automotive appliances such as car lights.
2. The ignition coil model used is incorrect. People are afraid of wearing the wrong shoes, and the car is afraid of changing the wrong model of the ignition coil. Because the input voltage of different models of ignition coils is also different, changing the wrong will lead to a decrease in the life of the ignition coil and failure of function.
3. Large spark plug gap will lead to large load and heat generation of the main coil, resulting in rapid aging of the insulation layer of the ignition coil. Or the assembled ignition coil may have poor durability of insulation materials, large internal resistance of the coil, and large heat generation, resulting in aging and breakdown of the insulation layer of the ignition coil.
4. A poor quality ignition coil is used. The quality of the ignition coil is poor, the coil is wound or there are often quality problems at the weld, and it is easy to have a short circuit phenomenon when it encounters vibration during the driving of the car, causing the ignition coil to fail. Inferior ignition coils are made relatively rough, unable to work stably in high temperature and high pressure environments, and are prone to problems.
5. The ignition coil plug is loose. If the plug is loose, the additional resistance to the ignition coil is bound to be damaged.
