Types of ignition coils
Dec 20, 2022
The ignition coil is divided into two types: open magnetic type and closed magnetic type according to the magnetic circuit.
The traditional ignition coil is an open-magnetic type, the core of which is stacked with silicon steel sheets of about 0.3 mm, and the core is wound with secondary and primary coils.
The closed magnetic type uses an iron core shaped like III around the primary coil, and then the secondary coil is wound outside, and the magnetic field line is composed of an iron core to form a closed magnetic circuit.
The advantages of closed-magnetic ignition coil are less magnetic leakage, small energy loss and small size, so the electronic ignition system generally adopts closed-magnetic ignition coil.
On the car, the ignition coil acts like a transformer, instantly converting a voltage of 12 volts into twenty or thirty thousand volts, and the car needs such a large voltage to operate normally. One point to pay attention to is the water temperature of the car, and the ignition coil of the car with a high water temperature is easy to burn out.
